Mr Brett Paton has been appointed as a new independent non-executive Chairman, in a move that further strengthens the Board through his broad corporate and commercial experience. Brett was Vice Chairman of UBS for twenty-three years and also served for five years as Vice Chairman Australia of the Institutional Clients Group at Citigroup. Brett was also a Nonexecutive Director of Tabcorp, Council Member at RMIT University and Chair of the Risk and Audit Committee. Brett is Chairman of Pointsbet Limited and a member of the Investment Committee of the ASX-listed Hearts and Minds Investments Limited (HM1). Brett has been appointed to Chair the Remuneration and Nomination Committee and the Audit and Risk Committee. With his breadth of experience, Brett is well equipped to chair the Board and guide the business development and future of MCA.
Mathew Ryan has been instrumental in the growth of Murray Cod Australia. As MCA co-founder with over 21 years’ experience in the aquaculture and agriculture industries, he was previously managing director of other local companies including Bidgee Fresh, Riverina Aquaculture and Agrow Agronomy and Research, where he provided agronomic support services to agriculture clients and conducted significant research programs. Previously MCA’s Managing Director and holding a Bachelor of Rural Science Degree, Mat‘s new role is Director of production and development where he will be leading the farming operations teams.
Roger Commins has over 40 years’ experience in the agricultural industry, including establishing and operating a diverse portfolio of enterprises. He is widely recognised as a regional innovator. Mr Commins is a founding owner and current director of Southern Cotton – a cotton gin based in southern NSW, and the Whitton Malt House, a luxury dining, event and accommodation venue located in Whitton, NSW.
Steven Chaur is an accomplished governance professional, GAICD and Non-Executive Director with diverse experiences in social services not-for-profits, member-based national industry organisations and ASX listed boards. He has worked as a Non-Executive Director and has direct experience on audit and risk committees, as well as being Chair of remuneration committees. These past directorships include Meat & Livestock Australia, Wingara Ag Limited and Davies Bakeries. Steven’s wealth of knowledge and experience in agribusiness and developing export markets make him an asset to the MCA Board and progressing the company’s global export strategy.
Peter McCluskey is a highly experienced professional services leader with more than 35 years' experience in financial advisory, insolvency and corporate restructuring. He is currently a non-executive director of Metrics Credit Holdings, a leading non-bank lender and alternative investment fund manager. Mr McCluskey was also a former Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committee at Pointsbet Holdings Limited (ASX: PBH). Mr McCluskey's previous leadership roles include managing partner of Ferrier Hodgson Melbourne and special advisor at KPMG. Mr McCluskey holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Swinburne University and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and of the Chartered Accountants ANZ and the Australian Restructuring, Insolvency and Turnaround Association. Peter brings strong financial and audit expertise, with deep experience in governance and commercial discipline. As Audit Committee Chair, his sound judgement and technical capability will support effective oversight of financial reporting and risk, strengthening the finance function and supporting Murray Cod Australia’s next phase of growth.
